Top News and Magazines Apps on Android in Kenya, Q3 2025

In the third quarter of 2025, the leading news and magazine apps on the Android platform in Kenya showed varied performance trends. This analysis is based on data provided by Sensor Tower.

The app X from X Corp. demonstrated a gradual decline in weekly revenue, starting from $1.7K at the beginning of July and dropping to approximately $1.2K by the end of September. Weekly downloads followed a similar downward trajectory, decreasing from 24K to around 15.8K over the quarter. However, weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 2.6M and 3.1M.

Medium experienced a stable pattern in both downloads and revenue. Weekly downloads hovered around 100, while revenue varied slightly, peaking at $114 in late August. Active users gradually increased from 880 to 1.07K by the end of September.

Bloomberg: Finance Market News saw a significant spike in revenue mid-September, reaching $227, though it ended the quarter at $102. Downloads remained fairly consistent, averaging around 65 weekly, while active users stayed steady at approximately 190.

The Economist - World News showed a peak in revenue in mid-August at $109, but it tapered off to $17 by the end of September. Downloads were low throughout the quarter, averaging in the 20s, and active users saw a slight decline from 152 to 122.

Lastly, NYTimes: US and Global News maintained a consistent download rate of about 40, with revenue peaking at $39 in late September. Active users remained stable, ranging from 147 to 180.
